I recently read a remarkable book called “The Gap and the Gain,” by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy and I just couldn’t wait to share its enlightening concepts with you.

I really believe its message has the power to empower and inspire all of us in our creative journeys.

As artists, we’re often caught between where we are and where we want to be – the gap. This gap can be a source of discontent and frustration, leaving us feeling like we’re never quite “there” yet.

But…

What if there’s a different perspective we can adopt, one that not only motivates us but also brings joy and fulfillment to our artistic endeavors?

Enter the gain mindset.

The gain mindset encourages us to shift our focus from the gap to the gains we’ve made along the way.

It’s about celebrating our progress, the growth we’ve experienced, and the skills we’ve honed as artists, entrepreneurs, etc. This perspective helps us see just how far we’ve come, and it fuels our motivation to keep moving forward.

So, how do we make this mindset shift and start embracing the gains?

These are my humble tips:

1. Reflect on your journey: Look back at where you started and acknowledge the milestones you’ve reached, the challenges you’ve overcome, and the knowledge you’ve gained.

2. Savor the process: Embrace the journey of creating and cherish each moment, from your first idea to the final result. Remember, it’s not just about the finished piece, but the personal growth and creative discoveries you make along the way.

3. Set realistic, attainable goals: Break your dreams down into smaller, achievable steps, and celebrate every small victory. This will keep you motivated, inspired, and eager to continue your creative journey.

4. Cultivate gratitude: Appreciate the opportunities, experiences, and people that have contributed to your growth as an artist. This will help you maintain a positive outlook and find joy in your progress.

5. Share your story: Connect with fellow colleagues and share your experiences, challenges, and successes. This sense of community will not only motivate and empower you but also inspire others in their journey.

By adopting the gain mindset, we can transform our perspective, amplify our motivation and unleash our full creative potential.

Let’s close the gap, embrace our gains, and together, create a symphony of success and fulfillment!
